Spotify counts a play when a stream crosses its own threshold on a track that is public in the catalog. That count — Spotify plays — is what this service adds to. It does not write the 28-day unique listener number. It does not follow the artist. It does not put the song on Discover Weekly or Radio as a purchased slot. And one thing has to be said plainly: Spotify’s rules prohibit artificial streams, they earn no royalties, and Spotify can remove them. This is not a “view” from another app with the noun swapped.
The Spotify for Artists dashboard prints several numbers that look related. Only one of them is this order.

Spotify’s rules prohibit artificial streams. Streams Spotify treats as artificial earn no royalties, do nothing for recommendation, and can be removed from the count, and Spotify can also act on the track. We cannot promise it will keep any bought play on the dashboard.
This service cannot make bought streams royalty-eligible, and it cannot promise Radio will pick the track up afterward. Delivery is spread over time rather than arriving at once, and that does not change how Spotify’s rules treat the streams.
